We’ll be staying in a mix of boutique hotels and private rural guesthouses hosted by our vetted network of Comuna local hosts. THE FAIRYTALE COUNTRYSIDE OF ROMANIA

We’ll be adventuring into the Carpathian Mountains to isolated villages in the Romanian countryside. Relax and become immersed in a traditional and slow way of life that the majority of Romanians still live by. We’ll be spending half of our time in Romania exploring some of Europe’s most breathtaking, surreal and best preserved natural landscapes and agrarian communities.

THE OG OF
FARM-TO-TABLE FEASTING

Romania’s connection to food is undeniably strong, with many still living completely off their land, family farms and local farmers markets. During our time in the countryside we’ll experience true and sustainable farm-to-table feasting that’s an every-day reality for the locals. From home-made wine and spirits to hearty home-cooked seasonal meals, we’ll become fully immersed in this slow and enriching way of living.

UNTOUCHED CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS

With isolated traditional villages as our home-base, we’ll explore the wild Carpathian Mountains and Europe’s last virgin forests. Following the same paths as flocks of sheep being herded by shepherds, we we’ll connect on a visceral level with the beauty of the wildest mountain ranges no longer existent in other parts of Europe.

PRESERVING FOLK ART & DESIGN

You’ll connect with groups of young designers and entrepreneurs working to preserve Romanian craft and the indigenous knowledge held by ageing artisans across the country. You’ll come face-to-face with carpet weavers, Roma coppersmiths and cauldron-makers, textile artisans and more. You’ll also connect with the new wave of Romanian designers bringing this traditional knowledge and craft into their contemporary work.

SOCIAL IMPACT

Romania is a very diverse country, made up of minorities from many different backgrounds - from Roma, Turkish, Armenian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, German, Syrian, Greek, Macedonian and many more that have come to call Romania home through natural migration. We partner with local projects that focus on sustainable community and cultural development while incorporating the work they’re doing into our trips in an experiential format.

It is important to keep in mind that Romanian infrastructure has not been maintained across the country according to western standards. The general pace of this journey is centred around slow travel and really allowing ourselves to become immersed in the local culture.

Our philosophy on travel is to embrace the moment and shine a different and more wholesome light on the destinations we travel to through conscious exploration. Romania is a safe, welcoming and diverse country where you’re quickly encouraged to let go of your comforts and experience its unique and rich culture while embracing the luxury of simplicity.
