Comuna in many latin-speaking countries refers to small towns, rural villages or distinct communities. We believe that it is in these tight-knit communities where cultural identities are created, preserved and shared with others to tell a deeper story of identity.

WHAT KINDS OF TRIPS DO YOU PROVIDE?
We curate unique, local-first, sustainable and culturally immersive group travel experiences for adventurous, creative and conscious travellers. Our small groups are never more than 12 people per trip so that we can maintain an intimate and flexible travel experience for our like-minded travellers. Our trips are tailored towards fostering human connections between our travellers and the locals we meet, as well as building empathy across cultures. We work with locals in the destinations that we travel to and curate experiences that support local creatives, entrepreneurs, artisans, musicians, guides, hosts, and anyone else inspiring us through their work. By doing so, we are able to control where our tourism dollars are invested, and make sure that they stay within the local economies of the places that we visit.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Please visit the "Destinations" tab in our main navigation to view individual destination itinerary details. Each trip can vary depending on the group's collective interests. Each trip includes all accommodations, Comuna guides, curated experiences, local transportation for experiences, activities listed in trip itinerary, internal flights where noted in your itinerary, some meals where noted in your itinerary, and 24/7 concierge service from Comuna Travel before, during and after the trip.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
Comuna Travel trips do not cover international airfare, travel insurance, visas, fees into and out of the country, baggage fees, gratuities, alcohol unless noted in your itinerary, most meals unless noted in your itinerary, and incidental expenses.
HOW DO I BOOK A TRIP?
A non-refundable 40% deposit is required to book your trip. Full payment for the trip (the remaining balance) is due 30 days before departure.
Below is our trip cancellation refund policy:
- Cancellation made more than 30 days prior to trip departure: The deposit payment is held by Comuna Travel
- Cancellation made less than 30 days prior to trip departure: 100% of total booking cost, inclusive of deposit, is held by Comuna Travel
To protect you in the case of unforeseen events that may arise and lead to cancellation, we recommend that you take out an all-inclusive travel insurance policy.
DO YOU PROVIDE CUSTOMER ITINERARIES FOR INDIVIDUAL TRAVEL?
Not yet. but we have big plans to add more exciting services as we grow. We are currently focused on growing our small group trip experiences that provide like-minded solo travellers the opportunity to become immersed in the culture of an offbeat destination on their own but within a group setting.
WHY DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Travel insurance is mandatory for all Comuna travellers, and proof of travel insurance must be provided before trip departure. This is to protect you in the case of unforeseen events. You are responsible for acquiring your own travel insurance. Travel insurance must provide full travel coverage with a minimum coverage of $200,000 CAD while traveling with Comuna Travel to any destination. The travel insurance must cover personal injury, medical expenses, loss of or damage to luggage, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses. If you require help obtaining travel insurance, we can provide you with recommendations.
WHAT ABOUT VISAS?
You are responsible for obtaining a visa if needed and covering any visa fees. You will also be responsible for covering any country entrance or exit fees. We will let you know if any of the aforementioned will be required for your destination prior to booking.
