All bookings are made with Comuna Travel Inc., a Corporation governed under the laws of the Province of Alberta and the owner of all of its advertised itineraries (“Comuna,” "Comuna Travel" “we,” or “us”). By booking a trip with us, paying a deposit or signing this agreement, you accept all of the terms of this agreement on your own behalf and on behalf of all persons listed on the booking, and direct us to perform services for each and every Traveller. The Terms and Conditions outlined in this agreement constitute the entire understanding and agreement between you the Traveller ("traveller" “you” or “your”) and Comuna Travel with respect to any and all bookings, reservations, trips, or transactions made with us.

Comuna Travel accepts credit cards as method of payment through our secure and encrypted online payment processor, Stripe. Upon booking, you will receive a receipt as proof and confirmation of payment.

Medical travel insurance is mandatory for all Comuna Travel trips and each individual traveler. You must provide proof of your travel insurance to us before departure. This is required in order to ensure that each individual traveller is protected in the case of unforeseen events. As a traveller, you are responsible for acquiring your own travel insurance which must provide full travel and medical coverage with a minimum coverage of $200,000 CAD while travelling with Comuna Travel to any destination. The travel insurance must cover personal injury, death, medical expenses, loss of or damage to luggage, delayed or cancelled flights, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses.

A non-refundable 40% deposit is required to book your trip. Full payment for the trip (the remaining balance) is due 45 days before departure. If you are booking your trip within 45 days of departures, then the full trip amount will be due at the time of booking.

The remaining balance of the trip price is due 45 days before departure. If payment is not received by the final due date, rates and trip availability may not be guaranteed. If a trip is booked 45 days or less before the departure date, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.

Your trip will automatically be broken up into two payments - initial 40% deposit, and remaining trip amount.

After your initial deposit payment, the remainder of your balance is due 45 days before the date of departure. If you choose not to select the payment plan, you have the option at checkout to pay the full amount at once.

If you require an even more flexible payment plan, please get in touch, and we will make a case by case decision on providing this additional service.

Any cancellation by you must be made via email and must be acknowledged by Comuna Travel via email. The date on which the request to cancel is received by Comuna Travel or its Agents will determine the applicability of the Cancellation Policy. Below is our trip cancellation policy.

  • Cancellation made more than 45 days prior to trip departure: The deposit payment is held by Comuna Travel

  • Cancellation made less than 45 days prior to trip departure: 100% of total booking cost, inclusive of deposit, is held by Comuna Travel

Comuna Travel reserves the right to cancel, alter or modify any trip (i.e. structure, suppliers, accommodations, transportation, schedule, guides, and itinerary) without prior notice for any reason, including but not just limited to the safety and/or comfort of our travellers and for circumstances where Force Majeure comes into play. In these cases, we will do our best to refund deposits already paid in the event of a cancellation due to Force Majeure less any non-refundable deposits paid to our third party suppliers. We will work with our suppliers to try and obtain any non-refundable deposits so that we can give you a full refund. However, we cannot guarantee this end result.

In circumstances where the cancellation is due to external events outside of our reasonable control, refunds will not include any unrecoverable costs. We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking, including, but not limited to visas, vaccinations, travel insurance, or non-refundable flights.

If the performance or nonperformance of the proposed trip is hindered or prevented (or in the opinion of Comuna Travel and our Third Party Suppliers to be hindered or prevented) due to Force Majeure (including without limitation acts of war declared or undeclared, hostilities, terrorist attacks, insurrection, explosion, flooding, tempest, forceful wind, fire or accident, natural disasters, acts of nature, labor conflicts and strikes, sabotage, civil disturbance, requisition, sickness, quarantine, government intervention, weather conditions, restraint of Princes, Rulers or People, seizure under legal process, or any other unforeseen circumstances), Comuna Travel and our Third Party Suppliers remain entitled to change or cancel the proposed trip itinerary in any way. It remains in our sole and absolute discretion whether or not we will proceed with a trip based off of ours and our Third Party Suppliers investigations into any particular circumstance and situation. These changes and cancellations are without liability to refund travellers money paid in advance, though we will work with our suppliers to avoid such a situation. However, the outcome cannot be guaranteed.

Our trip prices are subject to variable and seasonal pricing and advertised prices are based on current rates of exchange, tariffs, and taxes. Comuna Travel reserves the right to increase trip prices without notice to cover increased operating costs, tariffs, and taxes. Every effort will be made to operate trips as planned, but alterations to the itinerary may occur after the final itinerary has been issued.

During any Comuna Travel trip, there will likely arise opportunities to participate in activities or local events, which are not included in the Comuna Travel itinerary. Comuna Travel makes no representations about the safety or quality of these activities and events, including required transportation, or the standard of the independent operator running it. You accept that any assistance given by your group leader or local representative in arranging optional activities does not render us liable for them in any way. The contract for the provision of that activity will be between you and the activity provider. If you decide to participate in these events, you engage in said activities voluntarily and must take responsibility to employ precautions to ensure your own safety.

PASSPORT: A valid passport is mandatory for all international travel. It is your responsibility as a traveller to make sure that your passport is up to date ahead of departure. As a general rule, passports should have at least 6 months of validity when traveling internationally. Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least 6 months after the final day of travel.

VISAS: Some countries require you to obtain a visa, depending on the passport you are travelling with, in order to be allowed into the country. It is your responsibility as a traveller to make sure that you have obtained the necessary visa (if applicable). It is also your responsibility to cover any fees associated with obtaining a travel visa. We will however, let you know at the time of booking whether or not you will require a visa for the destination that you are travelling to.

ENTRANCE & EXIT FEES: Some countries also require you to pay an entrance or exit fee. It is your responsibility as a traveller to cover any entrance or exit feed (if applicable). We will however, let you know prior to departure whether it will be required.

To ensure the safety of our Travellers and staff, we ask that you adhere to the following:

  • Wear your seat belt at all times while riding in any vehicle that is in motion. It is noted that seat belts are not always readily available on all of the transportation we take, on either charter or public vehicles. Where available, we expect our travellers to use them. It is your responsibility to wear your seat belt properly and at all times while using any form of transportation and to abide by this policy.

  • Public buses are a common mode of transportation on Comuna Travel trips and on occasion local buses can be very crowded, with people standing in the isles. On some occasions, Comuna travellers may not have access to a seat and will stand, but this period should not be excessive and other transport arrangements will be made if there is simply no room on the bus. We rely on all transport providers to maintain the vehicles we use in a roadworthy condition, but we do not perform independent tests on public or private vehicles. If, in the group leaders opinion, the vehicle is unsafe then alternative transport arrangements will be made.
